Donations

I am sure that most of you are aware that last April our Jakers was diagnosed with leukemia. It has been a long and difficult year, but thanks to many doctors and nurses, he is now doing wonderful! We are so grateful for all of the organizations that have been put in place to help fight cancer. Jeff has volunteered to be on the board for Riverton's Relay For Life this year. It is being held at Riverton High School on August 7th- 8th. All proceeds go to the American Cancer Society. The track around the school will be filled with luminaries dedicated to cancer survivors and victims. We are selling the bags for $10 each. We would love to have anyone help out in any way that they can! We know first hand how much this organization helps to treat and touch people's lives. We think that this will be an amazing event, so come and support if you can. If you would like to have a luminary bag, please email me at hjamieson@mac.com and I will get one for you to decorate! Thanks for your support and help!!

Lions and Tigers and BEARS!

It is a good thing I love this child.  He is the one that is going to give me an early heart attack and half of the time, I am not so sure what to do with him.  My extended family goes camping over the fourth every year... we were not able to sleep up there, but decided to go up for the afternoon on Thursday and go visit with everyone.  There were about five little boys the same age that played together the whole time.  (Oh, and did I mention that Jake is on steroids this week... oh, and did I mention that it is now at a HIGHER dose now.  Apparently he is growing.)  The boys played well with each other running around in their 'club'.  Soon, it was time to go.  And Jake was no where to be found.  And I mean no where.  The boys hadn't seen him in about 10 minutes.  Apparently he told them he was "going over the fence to live with the bears."  I highly doubted he went over the fence as it was strung with barbed wire.  Soon, the whole camp was looking for my child, yelling at the top of their lungs while visions were flashing through my mind of bears and panthers and cougars and wolves and who knows what else was eating my little boy.  Suddenly, I hear someone yell "I found him!"  And would you like to know where my sweet little innocent boy was?  On the hammock in plain view listening to everyone shout his name and look for him.  And would you like to hear what he said to the person that found him?  She asked "Is your name Jake?"  Which he responded, "My name MIGHT be Jake."  After which she then yelled, "I found him!"  To which Jake so kindly commented, "I never told you my name was Jake."  I will not tell  you the words which ran through my head as it would totally inappropriate.  I will just say, I was mad.

Cancer Camp

The day after we got home from Lake Powell, the boys were off to cancer camp. It is called Camp Hobe and is a wonderful nonprofit organization put on for children with cancer and their siblings. We could have opted to have them stay all week and over night, but it would have been a little much for them, so we just did the day camp on Monday and Tuesday. It lasted from 9 am to 3:30 pm. Saying they loved it would be an understatement! They were spoiled rotten, doing crafts all day, swimming and they even had therapy dogs come and visit them. The counselors were wonderful with the kids and had only good things to say about them. We hesitated sending them the second day because it is an hour and a half drive there and back... two times a day! Poor Crew sat in that darn car a ridiculous amount of time. (And those of you who know me, know how well I do in the car too!:) I am so glad we did send them though. They still talk about it and the friends that they made there. Once again, as crappy as this whole cancer thing is, there are so many wonderful people out there who do such an incrediblel job at trying to make things a little bit easier on all of us!
