a 7-year old boy

named Cole. (Otherwise known as Cole-train or Colers or buddy or Tink and Crew's new name for him is George or Bob.)

This kid makes our life crazy happy. And we love him more than anything.
There is not a lot about Cole that has changed from the past year or from the beginning of his life actually.

He is still a little tease. I am pretty sure this is never going to change. Even though it drives me crazy at times, I can't imagine him not being a tease. It is just a part of who he is and we love it--most of the time!:)

He is still as shy as shy can be if you don't know him, but be careful once he does get to know you because he will talk your ear off!

He loves his "stuff". His collections range from old batteries to bb's he found on the ground to rocks he has colored to beads he put in a mason jar and filled with water to broken nails. You name it, he collects it. And then he 'gotiates' his stuff with Pa.

He is our hard worker. Jake and Cole have a choice of whether or not they want to do chores and if one of them doesn't the other kid gets a choice to finish the chores and get the money instead. I will just say that Cole ended up with a bucketload of money the first month and Jake had zip. When Jake figured it out, he was not too happy with himself. Cole will work and work and work as long as he is getting paid.

This year he has become ridiculously competitive. Most of the basketball games between he and Jake end up in some kind of fight. Usually pushing and shoving is involved and I am pretty sure they have taken a few swings here and there. If he doesn't win, he is mad. We are working on this and I am hoping by the time he is 37 we will have helped him not to have a breakdown every time he loses ANYTHING.

He is still our little cuddle bug and loves to snuggle and still be held. Yes. I still hold my seven year old when he permits it. And I love it.

He is our angel boy and we love him more than life itself. We love his big blue sparkly puppy dog eyes and those yummy lips and his mischievious personality that just scream trouble. He keeps us on our toes and helps us to remember that life is just a party!

His birthday went along the lines of this:
Breakfast with mom and dad at Market Street. He got pancakes and sausage and eggs.

A trip to the bookstore to pick out any book he wanted. He has wanted this All About Me book by Dr. Suess forever now and that is what he walked away with.

He and Crew swam for a little bit while we finished up the party details and finally,

It is time for a PARTY! Because that is what life is all about according to Cole train. He wanted a Dr. Suess party.

He got a pillow pet and lots of art supplies (which is all he asked for by the way), lots of baseball stuff and his favorite, a real life atm bank. To keep all of his money in.

And to top the night off, we went and saw Cars 2 at the drive in. It was a fun and busy busy day. Happy birthday Cole-train! We love you like crazy!

It's time to party!!

Where to even begin? We wanted to celebrate the end of Jake's chemo treatments considering three and a half years is quite the feat. It ended up turning into much more of a production than I had anticipated on. I figured we are only going to do this once, so we better make it good! We decided to have a circus/carnival themed party. Beware of the 500 pictures coming your way! I just couldn't help myself!!

Here are the invites. They were donated from a girl on Etsy. You can find her shop here. She was awesome to work with and her invites are some of the cutest I have ever seen!

Our food and dessert tables:

We had lots of carnival games set up, like pop the ballon, and knock the milk, and a kissing booth to guess how many hershey kisses were in a jar. We had facing painting and a tattoo booth. We also had a blow up slide that was donated from Ultimate Inflatables. (another awesome company if you are looking for any blow up rentals) I think my favorite was the photo booth. It was fun to see what pictures ended up on the camera at the end of the night!

It ended up being one of the craziest days EVER, but it was all worth it work in the end. The second we walked in the door, my sweet boy ran up to me and threw his arms around me and said, "Thanks mom for doing all that hard work! This was the BEST party ever! Can we do it again?" It made it all worth it--but I don't think we will be doing it again any time soon.
