2013

I was naive the beginning of this year.  I will admit it.  I figured once we got through the year we call 2012, life would maybe slow down... just a little bit.  I know it doesn't happen that way, but still.  A girl can always wish.  I am still reeling from all of the changes, which means, no blog.  I will hit the highlites of the last few months that I have neglected to write about.

January 7th.  Jeff leaves to CALIFORNIA to begin a new job.  This was not in the cards, nor what either of us wanted, but after many tears and prayers, we knew it was the right thing.  He has been out there for the last six months waiting for us to come join him once the boys are done with school.  We have since moved out of our home and moved into our new home in California.

Moving is always fun in and of itself, especially when you are pregnant and not feeling so hot.  Um.  Ever.  Wether it is because of my age or the fact that we are having a GIRL!!! (Still jumping up and down from excitement!)  this has been my hardest pregnancy by far.  Or maybe I have just forgotten.  It has been over five years.

Jake hit his ONE YEAR bone marrow transplant birthday on May 16th.  We are waiting another week to celebrate as I was out of town, but we are so so excited and still in awe we are already a year out.  We just finished up his one year post transplant doctors appointments.  Everything looks great.  His chimerism is at 100% still and no sign of GVH, which at this point it would be rare for him to get it.  His hearing is good as well as his lung function.  All blood work is normal.  For the first time in five years, we are not going to clinic at least once a month, we are down to every three months.  I am kind of freaking out over it, but I know it has to happen sometime.  He is changing doctors because of the move, so we will go in again next month to meet them and their protocol may be different.  We are not sure yet.  But.  So far so good.  I will admit that I am still waiting for the worst to happen.  I think I will always be.  But we are enjoying every single good day that we have with him.  And lets face it.  Sometimes ignorance is bliss.  If something bad is going to happen, I don't think I want to know at this point just because we are in such a good place with him.

Both Jake and Cole are playing their first year of liberty league.  They have both fallen in love with baseball.  Jake especially.  It has completely taken over our lives (at least it feels like it), but both have come leaps and bounds this year.  Neither one has played on a competitive league before, so it has been a little bit of an awakening for them.  Lots of hard work has payed off.  It is so fun to watch them. Now if we can just get the weather to cooperate for the last few games of the season...

We have been swimming and gone to visit Jeff a couple of times.  I was spoiled rotten on mothers day. Pretty sure my Cole has the sweetest and kindest heart.  He woke up early and made me breakfast in bed all on his own.  Peanut butter toast and orange juice.  Love. Him.  We have stayed very busy and are now looking forward to the end of school so we can finally move on with the next chapter of our lives in Cali!
