October 15th- October 31st

 October 31st:
Happy Halloween!
Love,
the green lantern,
the huntsman,
little red riding hood
and the big bad wolf.

October 30th:
One of our favorite family traditions has become our Halloween dinner.  The boys
anticipate this just as much as Christmas.  This year we were able to share it with
friends and it was so fun.  I always say that we will do it on a smaller scale next year,
but it always turns out to be worth whatever effort was put into the day.

 October 29th:
October 28th:
Apple donuts and apple cider and sprinkles.
 October 27th:
The socks.  Need I say more?
October 26th:
(The next few days are cheat days.  I am not sure what happened this month with
me and my camera.)  My kids love animals.  I actually really don't.  I like them
from a distance, but that may be it.  They have been begging for a dog for a few
years now and dang it.  They may win out once we get a bigger yard...

October 25th:
Pumpkin carving.  The day Crew has been looking forward to since October
1st has arrived.  October 26th rolled around and the newly carved pumpkins
were already rotting.  Oops.  They had so many bugs three days later that
we had to throw them in the garbage.  Double oops.  Crew was not a happy
camper.  Next year, we will have to figure out a way not to let them rot.  Any ideas?

 October 24th:

 October 23rd:
Happy birthday to me.  I am 29.  Again.  And this baby is naughty.  We have
formed a nasty habit of having to lay down with her during her naps.  She wants her
back to be tickled and will lift up her shirt the minute you walk into the room to let you
know what she wants.  She will even move your hand if you are not tickling her back in
the right place!  (she is pretty high maintenance)  It takes
only ten minutes for her to fall asleep and she transfers easily into her bed.  I will
admit that I love it.  Some people may give me a hard time about it, but she won't
cuddle like this forever and I love that I get to hold and kiss on her for a few minutes
each day.

 October 21st:
She is obsessed with "pu-kins".  And I am obsessed with her.

October 20th:
She sure does love that "co-co."  And he spoils her rotten.

 October 19th:
Watching Shrinky-dinks shrink.
October 18th:
She really really likes her food.  And she made sure she got every last
drop out of that bowl.  And off of the table.

October 17th:
Napa has some of the cutest little shops and is all decorated for Halloween.
We had never seen a pumpkin this big and had to document it's size just for
our Crew considering he is obsessed with pumpkins and all things Halloween.
If you can't see the sign at the bottom... this pumpkin is named Hudson and weighs
1,500 1/2 pounds.
October 16th:
About two months ago, Jeff was transferred to Napa for his job.  We are
slowly digesting the fact that we will have to eventually move closer to his
building so he does not have a two hour commute each way.  This weekend,
we dropped the kiddos of at grandma and grandpa's house and spent some time
looking for homes and trying to make a grown up decision on what we should do.
I am pretty sure we both walked away even more frustrated than we were to
begin with.  I know the answers will come with time and we are slowly
eliminating areas, but it is hard when you throw not only four kids into the
equation, but a kid that is in middle school who does not do well with change.
We did have an amazingly fun weekend that was much needed and were
incredibly spoiled by Jeff's company.  Even though we have some difficult
decisions in front of us, I am so grateful for those decisions!  We are at
such a good place in our lives right now, sometimes I have to stop and pinch
myself to make sure I am not dreaming.
October 15th:
I don't know how we got so lucky in the fact that all three of our boys love to
read.  There have been times that we have had to take books away from them
because they won't do what they are supposed to do.  I would so much
rather have them read than play video games or watch television and often, they
choose reading over those things.  Now, I just need to find another book for Crew.
We can't seem to get past Diary of a Wimpy Kid.
